Bloomfield No Match for Falcons
The Falcons beat Bloomfield Thursday 18 - 1. Eight runs were scored in the first as Fermi was able to string along four walks, two hit batsmen, a sacrifice fly, a two RBI double by Alex Zachary and a single by Dan Brunetti to push the runs across. A sacrifice fly in the third inning by Tim Kertanis scored the ninth run. After scoring one more in the fourth to make it 10 - 0, four runs were scored in the sixth and seventh innings. Zachary and Dan Brunetti each had a RBI sacrifice fly, Tom Arnone had a two RBI single, and Zachary had a RBI single. Charlie Smith started the game and went four innings with two strikeouts; Chaz Millett and Brunetti each pitched an inning and had a strikeout each. Ethan Murray pitched in the seventh and had two strikeouts.Fermi is away at RHAM on 5/18.
Fermi Downs E.O. Smith 5-3
Fermi won a close game against E.O. Smith, 5 - 3, on Wednesday. Alex Zachary pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts. Chaz Millett had a RBI double in the first, and though E.O. Smith scored three runs in the bottom of the inning, Fermi battled back as Zachary helped his cause by hitting a three run homerun in the second inning. Dan Brunetti had a double, and both Tim Kertanis and Dan Haber had singles. Ethan Murray had a RBI double in the sixth.Fermi Routs Bloomfield on Senior Day
Fermi shutout Bloomfield on Thursday night, securing an 18 - 0 win on Senior Night. Three runs were scored in the first and second, one run in the third, and eleven runs in the fourth. Chris LaTorra had three hits on the day with three RBI, Chaz Millett had a double, Ethan Murray had an RBI double and a stolen base, and Tom Arnone had a single. Alex Zachary had a single, 2 RBI double, and a RBI sac fly, Dan Brunetti had a single and a double, and Tim Kertanis had a RBI single. Greg Kraucunas started the game and went two innings with four strike outs. Dan Brunetti pitched two innings with one strike out, and Chaz Millett pitched in the fifth inning.
Fermi plays Rocky Hill on 5/14 when they finish up the 16 inning game from 4/25 at 2:30 and then play the regularly scheduled game at 4:15.
Falcons Lose Close Game To Tolland
Fermi lost a close game against Tolland, 3 - 1. Alex Zachary started the game and had four strikeouts; he also had a double and a stolen base for the day. The Falcons were able to tie up the score 1 - 1 in the top of the sixth, but Tolland scored unanswered runs in the bottom of the inning. Alex Sagan, Dan Brunetti, and Chris LaTorra each had a single; LaTorra also had a stolen base.
The junior varsity team won 12-2. Charlie Smith earned the win, pitching a full game. Way to go JV!
Fermi is away at Hartford Public on Wednesday 5/9.
Fermi Holds On For Win Against Rockville
The Falcons took on Rockville at home and held on to win 8 - 7. Alex Zachary started the game and went five innings with three strikeouts. Chris Giottonini was brought in for the sixth, but Zachary went back to finish the inning. He pitched the seventh inning and struck out the side. Fermi scored two runs in the first inning; Greg Kraucunas and Giottonini both had RBI singles. Two more runs were scored in the second; Dan Brunetti had a RBI single, and Zachary hit a RBI double. Alex Sagan had a RBI double in the third while Kraucunas drove in two more runs in the fourth.Fermi is away at Berlin on Friday 5/4.
Fermi Loses to RHAM
Fermi took on RHAM Monday, and they suffered their first loss in four games, 6 - 1. Chaz Millett started the game and went five innings; Tom Arnone pitched two innings in relief. The Falcons scored their only run in the first inning as it came on an infield error that allowed Alex Zachary to score.Fermi takes on Rockville at home on 5/2.
